#SilkySmooth: Your Guide to the *Perfect* Shave!

It’s summertime!

And for a lot of us that means return of waxing, shaving, epilating and what not. While it’s a popular belief that shaving causes hair to grow back darker, razor lovers definitely tend to disagree. Shaving is time and money saving, can be done at home with ease and leaves your skin feeling super soft as it scrapes off the layer of dead skin as well.

But achieving a perfect shave can be a real struggle and if you do not do it correctly, you might end up cutting yourself or getting the ingrown hair.

So here’s a complete guide on shaving that will give you that silky smooth skin you always wanted.

1.    Exfoliate a day before

Now many of us simply grab our razors and head to the shower. Wrong!

A day before you decide to shave, exfoliate your skin thoroughly. Most of the time there’s some oil trapped in the pores that give delusion of ingrown hair and it’s generally important to exfoliate the dead skin so you can achieve a closer and smoother shave.

If you don’t want a premade scrub, you can make one at home. Simply mix coffee with raw coconut oil and use it as an exfoliator to get rid of all the dead skin.

2.    Invest in the right Razor!

Men’s razors work just as fine, but there’s a few things that you need to keep in mind.

If you are getting a good shave with a men’s razor, stick to that only. But if after shaving, your skin feels dry or itchy, you immediately need to switch your razor to a more delicate one. Try the one with lesser blades as they are mild on skin. Or switch to one specifically designed for women. Venus products work pretty well on skin.

3.    Shower First!

Never ever shave as soon as you step into the shower. Make sure you take your time and bathe first.

As your skin is moist, it becomes easier to get rid of the hair and most importantly, your skin would not be prickly or itchy afterward. And also, you don’t really wanna use soap on skin that is freshly shaved.

4.    Lather it up!

Make sure you always have a barrier between your skin and the razor. Buy a good shaving cream or foam or simply use your conditioner. This helps the razor to glide smoothly on your skin and it’s easier to avoid any nicks and cuts.

5.    Be gentle!

Never press the razor harshly on your skin. The blades know their job, you don’t need to put in the hard work.

Also, shave in an upward direction against the growth of your hair and make sure you do not go over and over against the same spot. You will only end up damaging your skin. A single stroke is enough.

6.    Exfoliate Again!

Yup! You read that right.

Now that you are done with your normal shave, it’s time to go a step further in order to achieve the closest and smoothest shave possible.

Mix up olive oil and sugar and scrub it on your legs after you’re done shaving. After a few minutes, wash it off with water and shave again. The oil leaves a thin film on your skin so you don’t need to apply shaving crème or conditioner. This is the secret tip that will make your shave last longer and will give you that satin smooth look you were aiming for!

7.    Moisturize!

Make sure you moisturize your skin thoroughly after shaving. If you have sensitive skin, you can take a few drops of coconut oil and massage it into your skin post shaving. Aloe Vera gel also acts as a soothing agent and prevents any itchiness.

So here it is. Our guide for you guys to achieve those sinfully gorgeous legs. Do give it a try and let us know if you have any other queries.

Happy Shaving!

And,

Keep Sparkling!
